چکیده

This paper considers the problem of controlling a class of nonlinear multibody flexible space systems consisting of a flexible central body to which a number of articulated appendages are attached. Collocated actuators and sensors are assumed, and global asymptotic stability of such systems is established under a nonlinear dissipative control law. The stability is shown to be robust to unmodeled dynamics and parametric uncertainties. For a special case in which the attitude motion of the central body is small, the system, although still nonlinear, is shown to be stabilized by linear dissipative control laws. Two types of linear controllers are considered: static dissipative (constant gain) and dynamic dissipative. The static dissipative control law is also shown to provide robust stability in the presence of certain classes of actuator and sensor nonlinearities and actuator dynamics. The results obtained for this special case can also be readily applied for controlling single-body linear flexible space structures. For this case, a synthesis technique for the design of a suboptimal dynamic dissipative controller is also presented. The results obtained in this paper are applicable to a broad class of multibody and singlebody systems such as flexible multilink manipulators, multipayload space platforms, and space antennas. The stability proofs use the Lyapunov approach and exploit the inherent passivity of such systems.

Nonlinear Stabilizing Controller for a Special Class of Single Link Flexible Joint Robots

Joint flexibility is a very important factor to consider in the controller design for robot manipulators if high performance is expected. Most of the research works on control of flexible-joint robots in literature have ignored the actuator dynamics to avoid complexity in controller design. The problem of designing nonlinear controller for a class of single-link flexible-joint robot manipulator...

A magnetorheological fluid damper for robust vibration control of flexible rotor-bearing systems: A comparison between sliding mode and fuzzy approaches

Squeeze Film Dampers (SFD) are commonly used for passive vibration control of rotor-bearing systems. The Magnetorheological (MR) and Electrorheological (ER) fluids in SFDs give a varying damping characteristic to the bearing that can provide active control schemes for the rotor-bearing system. A common way to model an MR bearing is implementing the Bingham plastic model. Adding this model to th...

Nonregular Feedback Linearization for a Class of Second-Order Systems with Application to Flexible Joint Robots

In this paper, a class of second-order nonlinear cascade control systems is considered. Under certain structural assumptions, it is proven that these systems are exactly linearizable via nonregular static state feedbacks and state diffeomorphisms. Linearizing input transformations and the corresponding state diffeomorphisms are presented. Finally, nonregular static feedback linearization is app...

A Note on Stabilizing and Time - Optimalcontrollers for Discrete - Time Linearsystems with Positive Controls

Design of stabilizing and time-optimal controllers for discrete-time linear systems with positive controls is revisited. Necessary and suucient conditions for stabilizability of this class of systems are given. A class of stabilizing controllers is designed. We show that a stabilizing time-optimal controller exists if the system is dead-beat controllable. We show by an example that there may al...

The Comparison of Direct and Indirect Optimization Techniques in Equilibrium Analysis of Multibody Dynamic Systems

The present paper describes a set of procedures for the solution of nonlinear static-equilibrium problems in the complex multibody mechanical systems. To find the equilibrium position of the system, five optimization techniques are used to minimize the total potential energy of the system. Comparisons are made between these techniques. A computer program is developed to evaluate the equality co...
